Justice S.P. Garg

Born on 15th June, 1956 at Maur, Distt. Bathinda, Punjab. Did matriculation from S.S.D High School, Maur in first class. Did B.Com from Rajindera Government College, Bathinda, Punjab in the year 1976; stood First and won National Scholarship. Graduated in Law (LL.B.) from Panjab University, Chandigarh in the year 1979 and won Kartar Singh Chadha Gold Medal for standing first. Won various prizes in curricular and extracurricular events. Got Diploma in Gandhian Philosophy from Panjab University, Chandigarh and stood second. Did LL.M. from Kurukshetra University in 2001. 
Enrolled as an Advocate with Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana in 1979 and joined the chamber of esteemed uncle Sh.P.C.Aggarwal, Advocate, expert in Civil Law and, practiced in District Courts at Bathinda for about nine months.
Joined Delhi Judicial Service in the year 1980 securing first rank. Worked as Metropolitan Magistrate, Civil Judge, Rent Controller, and ACMM before being promoted to Delhi Higher Judicial Service in November, 1996. Presided over Special Court for trial of murder cases, Matrimonial Court, Special Judge (CBI), Special Judge (NIA). Got training as Mediator. Appointed DJ–IV-cum-Addl. Sessions Judge, Incharge, Distt. New Delhi, from May, 2008 to December, 2010. Appointed as Principal Secretary (Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs), Govt. of NCT of Delhi in December, 2010. 
Elevated to the Bench of High Court of Delhi as an Additional Judge on 17.10.2011.
Retired on 14.06.2018.
