Justice Poonam A. Bamba

Born on 01st September, 1961 at Delhi, did her schooling from Delhi. Graduated with Honours in Botany from Hansraj College, Delhi University in 1980. Completed LL.B. in the year 1983 and LL.M. in the year 1988 from Faculty of Law, Delhi University; holds Diploma in Administrative Law from Indian Law Institute, New Delhi.
Practiced as an advocate in Delhi District Courts and High Court of Delhi from 1983 to 1987. Worked with Banks- Punjab National Bank and Central Bank of India, as Law Officer and Deputy Chief Officer (Law) respectively, from 1987 to 1996; and with Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Mumbai, as Division Chief (Legal) and Joint Legal Advisor from 1996 to 2002. Represented these banks and SEBI before various courts of India and also the Securities Appellate Tribunal, Mumbai. 
Is a Trained Mediator.
Attended International Training Programmes- a month long Programme on Capital Market, at Baruch College, New York, USA, a Programme on Investigation and Enforcement of Securities Laws at Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Washington, USA and attended various conferences of IOSCO (International Organization of Securities Commissions). 
Joined Delhi Higher Judicial Service on 05th December, 2002. During the tenure spanning over a period of 19 years approximately, presided over various jurisdictions viz. Matrimonial Court, Family Court as Judge/Principal Judge, Land Acquisition Court, Appellate Court under Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act, 1971, Sessions Courts, Special Judge, CBI at Patiala House Courts. 
Remained posted as District & Sessions Judge in different districts for a period of about five years i.e., at South East District, Saket from 08th December, 2016 to 30th April, 2017, at New Delhi District at Patiala House Courts from 01st May 2017 to 28th May, 2019 and as Principal District & Sessions Judge, at South District, Saket Courts Complex from 29th May, 2019 to 31st August, 2021.
Elevated as Permanent Judge of High Court of Delhi on 28th March, 2022.
Authored four books: Perfect Marriage- Not a Mirage, How to Save your Marriage (2nd Edition), Temple of Justice- A School of Life, Parents at War- Custody Battles in Indian Courts.
Published Articles on various subjects in Journals of Delhi Judicial Academy, National Stock Exchange, and that of Central Bank of India. 
Visited as Guest Faculty/Resource Person at Delhi Judicial Academy, Dwarka, Delhi, UTI Institute of Capital Markets, Mumbai, Training Institute, Stock Holding Corporation of India, Mumbai, Northern India Bankers Staff Training College, Delhi and Zonal Staff Training College, Central Bank of India.
Is a sports person. Had earned title of the ‘Best Athelete’ of Law Faculty, University of Delhi in the year 1983. 
A bird watcher, a keen observer of life and nature and has been a part of creation of a micro forest, adoption of trees at District Courts etc.
Evinces special interest in dynamics of human relationship. 
On the path of knowledge of self and has been sharing tools of ‘Self Management’ with others at various fora.
